It has been snow free in Rochester since April 7th of this year. Well it’s December 1, 2009 and we finally got our first snow of the winter season. According to the National Weather Service, this is the 5th longest stretch of snow free weather in recorded history for Rochester, NY.
Believe me, I am in no rush to get snow but that is all the local media seems to be obsessed with these days. I heard on TV channel 13 that according to the National Weather Service, it will be the latest date for the first snowfall in 46 years. Also, the all-time record in Rochester for the first snow accumulation is December 10th, 1948.

Hopefully the late snow fall will result in a short Winter season! I’m not a snow bunny, even though I have lived a majority of my life in upstate NY. It was a hoot watching my 6 month old puppy (Harpo) playing in the snow for the first time.
